Prioritizing Southwest Wisconsin
Travis knows the challenges smaller communities face. He voted to increase funding to repair the rural infrastructure that powers our agriculture economy and supported innovative solutions to improve access to healthcare and emergency services. As our small communities struggle with rising costs, Travis supported a budget that increased state revenue sharing for local governments, supported kids, and protected SeniorCare.
Comprehensive Energy Reform
Wisconsin needs comprehensive energy reform that restores balance to the process, gives local communities a meaningful voice, and protects families and businesses from rising energy costs. Travis has taken action on these issues, including authoring legislation like SB 3 to restore local control over the siting of large-scale wind and solar projects that was taken away by Democrats in 2009 through Act 40. He will continue working to address the impacts of industrial wind and solar, data centers, and major transmission projects—including the proposed mega 765-kV power line.
This 765-kV line is a bad idea driven by flawed MISO policy that prioritizes moving massive amounts of intermittent industrial wind and solar power instead of focusing on reliable, common-sense baseload Wisconsin generation. The Driftless Region is special and should be preserved and protected.
Taking Action on Affordability
Increasing costs are squeezing family budgets, which is why Travis worked across the aisle to enact meaningful tax relief for everyone. This includes a $643 million income tax cut, eliminating tax on retirement income, and making your utility bills exempt from sales tax. Travis also voted for real property tax relief and to eliminate taxes on tips and overtime to put more money back in your pocket.
Supporting Wisconsin Agriculture
Agriculture is an economic engine for Wisconsin’s economy, and Travis wants to ensure that this proud tradition continues for generations. He voted to support our meat and dairy processor industry and boost Wisconsin’s agriculture exports around the world. As threats from foreign adversaries become more prevalent, Travis voted to protect Wisconsin farmland from being purchased by hostile countries. He helped create the Ag Road Improvement Program (ARIP), which is investing $300 million into rural roads and bridges.
